Bio
Katie May earned a PhD in Marine Science (Virginia Institute of Marine Science) and an MA in Conservation Biology (Columbia University). Her current research focuses on climate resilience, sustainability, and management of natural resources in the face of climate change. Her past research experience includes genomics, marine biology and fisheries, and seafood sustainability. Before IAN, Katie May worked as a science outreach educator in Maine and as a fisheries planner for the State of Virginia. She has also worked in sustainability certification.
Katie May enjoys running, traveling, and experiencing nature. Her most recent adventures have included snorkeling in the seagrass beds of Ischia, Italy and hiking along the seaside cliffs of Derrynane, Ireland. She resides in South Anne Arundel County with her husband Dr. Jon Lefcheck and the amazing Berlioz the cat.
