The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science offers a variety of opportunities for the general public to peek into the science world and our part in it.
Appalachian Laboratory
The Appalachian Laboratory hosts a Visiting Scholar Seminar Series during fall. Seminars are held at 3:30 p.m. in Room 109 at the lab, located at 301 Braddock Road in Frostburg. Learn more on AL’s website.

Chesapeake Biological Laboratory
The Chesapeake Biological Laboratory hosts Science for Citizens, a seminar series held in the fall and spring to talk about a featured research effort. These seminars are held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Bernie Fowler Lab, 142 Williams St., in Solomons. Visit CBL's website to sign up for notifications.
The Visitors Center, located in the Solomons House at 200 Farren Ave., is free to visitors. Guests can learn about the health of the Bay, current research projects and more through videos and exhibits. Hours vary seasonally. Campus and group tours are available. Horn Point
Horn Point Laboratory, 2020 Horns Point Road in Cambridge, has its own seminar series at 11 a.m. Wednesdays in the Coastal Science Building’s auditorium. Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology
The Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET), 701 East Pratt St., hosts a weekly seminar series on Wednesdays at 3pm that is open to the public. IMET also has a public lecture series in the evening each fall. IMET's public open house is held on the first Saturday in May.
