Scientists from IMET attended the 10th Annual International Marine Biotechnology Conference in Brisbane, Australia. More than 300 delegates attended the conference from more than 20 countries.
IMET Director Russell Hill is the Secretary/Treasurer of the International Marine Biotechnology Association (IMBA) that organizes the conference. Tsetso Bachvaroff, Sook Chung and Rose Jagus were among the keynote speakers, and IMET Assistant Director Nick Hammond enrolled founder members in the IMBA.
Graduate students Jeanette Davis, Ryan Powell, Jan Vicente and Fan Zhang, gave oral presentations. Jan Vicente was awarded a runner-up prize for his presentation “Diversity and functionality of microbial symbionts associated with a two-sponge symbiosis in the Caribbean”.
Baltimore has been chosen as the location for the 11th IMBC in 2016, to be hosted by IMET.
