Supporting the Horn Point Laboratory, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science promotes research and education critical to meet the environmental challenges impacting lives throughout Maryland - head on. State-of-the-art technology and bright, questioning minds are at work at the Horn Point Lab, working to build a sustainable and resilient future for all. Every day our work promotes:

  • Identifying and studying environmental challenges to protect and sustain our coastlines
  • Understanding and charting sources impacting runoff to improve Bay and stream water quality
  • Expanding oyster aquaculture opportunities and promoting oyster health while operating the largest oyster hatchery on the east coast
  • Educating students to be the next generation of environmental leaders, prepared to solve environmental issues facing our coastal waters and beyond
