Solomons Island: a historical perspective
Presented by Dr. Ralph Eshelman
This illustrated presentation will present a historical overview of Solomons Island, including how it became the bugeye capital of the Chesapeake, home to Patuxent brand oysters that were eaten as far west as California and as far south as Antarctica. Steamboats were the lifeblood of the island during World War II, the M.M. Davis and Son Shipyard made vessels for the war effort. These topics and more will be discussed in this informal presentation.
